Richard Earl Kinnaman

GREENFIELD – Richard Earl Kinnaman, age 66, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at Hancock Regional Hospice. He was born on July 12, 1948 in Indianapolis as the son of Darrell and Ada (Keller) Kinnaman. He graduated from Hancock Central High School in 1966. Richard earned his degree as a Journeyman Bricklayer from Indiana Bricklayers Union in 1970 and graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1977. He served in the US Air Force from 1971-1975. He married Sandra Kay (Johnson) on March 30, 1968. Richard worked as a Deputy Sheriff for the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department for 32 years before retiring in 2007. He was a member of Eden’s Masonic Lodge for 25 years, as well as the FOP #140, Indiana Sherriff’s Association, NRA, and The McDonald’s College of Knowledge. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; sons, Brian (Stephanie) Kinnaman, and Eric (Kelley) Kinnaman; sisters, Fern Holiday, and Vetha Mae Jordan; and five grandchildren, Conner, Bryce, Josie, Aidan, and Brenice. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Ada Kinnaman; and brother, Robert Kinnaman. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary and Crematory in Greenfield. A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. also at the mortuary with viewing an hour prior to the service. Pastors David Woods, David Crittenden and Danny Curry will be officiating. Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery in Eden, Indiana with military rites presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard. Richard has requested that, if you must send flowers, please send a single red rose. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gift of Life, The Rotary District, 6560 Foundation Inc., c/o Erlewein Mortuary, 1484 W US 40, Greenfield, Indiana 46140; Hancock County Veterans Park, PO Box 844, Greenfield, IN 46140; or Hancock Regional Foundation, Attn: Hospice, 801 N State St., Greenfield, IN 46140, envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
