Billy Meeks

GREENFIELD – Billy Meeks, age 73, of Greenfield, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at his home. He was born on December 10, 1941 in Three Forks, KY as the son of James L. and Esther (Wheet) Meeks. Billy married Faye (Nelson) on June 3, 1960 in Indianapolis, IN. He retired from Chrysler. Billy was a member of UAW Local 1226. He loved fishing, and restoring antique rod and reels. He made bird houses and bird feeders with his daughter. Billy is survived by his wife of 54 years, Faye Meeks of Greenfield; daughter, Debbie Hurst of Greenfield; son, Terry (Jann) Meeks of Lawrence, IN; three sisters, Helen Gilliam of Kentucky, Geraldine (Dennis) Clark of Knightstown, and Sylvia (Hulen) Hill of Kentucky; five grandchildren, T.W., Johnathon, Billy, Jesse Meeks, and Nathaniel (Katie) Hurst; and three great-grandchildren, Nickolas and James Meeks, Lydia Hurst, and one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Esther (Wheet) Meeks; three brothers, Jimmy, Donald, J.W.; sister, Charlene Gentry; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Emma Hurst. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 23, 2015, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Brandywine Community Church Food Pantry, 1551 E. New Road, Greenfield, IN 46140 or Hancock County Hope House, 35 East Pierson Street, Greenfield, IN 46140 or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
