Lois L. Schaekel

FOUNTAINTOWN – Lois L (Curry) Schaekel, age 87, of Fountaintown, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation in Greenfield. She was born on October 13, 1927 in New Palestine as the daughter of Paul T. and Anna (Weber) Curry. She graduated from New Palestine High School in 1945. Lois married Harold E. Schaekel in 1992. She worked for Hancock County Circuit Court as a recorder for 19 years. Lois was a member of the Morristown Eastern Star for 50 years and the New Palestine United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the home economics club, and the sewing club. She loved quilting. Lois is survived by her husband, Harold Schaekel of Fountaintown; two sons, Mick (Beverly) Cecil of Greenfield and Gary (Elaine) Cecil of Bonita Springs, FL; stepchildren, Chris Tilley of Morristown, Russel Reed of Milwaukee; brother, Paul T. (Mary Jane) Curry of Scottsdale, AZ; three sisters, Elizabeth Brannam of Beech Grove, IN, Frances Wilkinson of Indianapolis, and Jeanette Woodward of Seymour, IN; grandchildren, Mike, Tom, Gary, Scott, and Stephanie; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank A. Cecil; parents, Paul T. and Anna (Weber) Curry; sister, Ruth Justus; grandson, Bill; and best friend, Juanita Gundrum. A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at Fountaintown Cemetery. Pastor Roger Holder will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be sent directly to the donor’s favorite charity.
