CARTHAGE – John Emmett Chumbley, age 61, of Carthage, passed away Monday, July 6, 2015. He was born on May 12, 1954 in Franklin, IN as the son of Virgil E. and Margie R. (Popplewell) Chumbley. He graduated from Indian Creek High School in 1972. John served in the Army for 10 years during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed being a Fireman in Franklin. John loved hunting and fishing. He was an avid IU Hoosiers and Indianapolis Colts fan. John is survived by his three sons, Shawn Chumbley, Shane Chumbley, and Derek Chumbley; two brothers, Oland Chumbley of Trafalgar, IN and James Chumbley of Franklin, IN; three sisters, Audrey Gruner of Bargersville, IN, Gladys Decker of Franklin, IN, and Sylvia Hudson of Greenfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Margie Chumbley; and brother, Ernie Chumbley. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent directly to the Marion National Cemetery, 1700 East 38th Street, Marion, IN 46952.
