GREENFIELD – Dorcas Anne (Fink) Wolfe, age 92, of Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015. Dorcas was born in 1922 to Herbert and Hazel Fink, and grew up during the Great Depression on the farm with her sister Eleanor (later Holzhausen) in western Hancock County. She played the oboe and the piano. She attended Purdue, and there met her future husband, Walter Wolfe. They married in 1943. College was interrupted by WWII. While Walter served on Saipan, Dorcas was an “oil-grabber” in Oklahoma, testing the fuels and lubricants need for the war effort. Both she and Walt finished their degrees after the war, and Dorcas graduated with a degree in Home Ec and in Teaching. Not long after the war, they settled in their home just south of Cumberland, IN, and Dorcas still resided there until her death. Typical of the 1950’s, Dorcas was a homemaker, raising her four children, Thomas, Janet, Anne and David. She and Walter lived for a time in Italy and for 3 years in England as Walt’s job with Eli Lilly required. Dorcas was a member of the St. John United Christ of Christ. She loved to travel and play bridge, and pinochle, and go the Frosty Boy in New Palestine with her grandkids. She was able to go on the annual family fishing trip to Canada as late as the summer of 2015. Her life was forever full of friends and family and will be sorely missed. Dorcas was preceded in death by her husband Walter (age 68, 1988) and by her youngest son David (age 47, 2006). She is survived by her other children, Thomas (Mary Lynn) Wolfe, Janet Wolfe, Anne (Robert) Medearis; daughter-in-law Renate Wolfe; 6 grandchildren, Gregory, John, Jason, Ian, Andrew, and Shelby Wolfe; and 3 great-grandchildren, Alancin, Nate and Sophia Wolfe Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield and a funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be sent directly to Oasis, 10800 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46229 or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
