GREENFIELD– George Gardner, age 58, of Greenfield, passed away on October 29, 2012, at Hancock Regional Hospital. Born on December 24, 1953, in Winchester, he was the son of Ralph and Edith (Alexander) Gardner. George graduated from Randolph Southern High School in 1972 and married Mary Catherine Brosier on April 8, 1978, in New Palestine. He was previously employed at Metzler Plumbing for about 15 years. His most recent employment was at Paul E. Smith/Benjamin Franklin Plumbing in Indianapolis.
George was a hard-working and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan who loved tractors and traveling to the Smokey Mountains.
Surviving him are his wife, Mary Gardner of Greenfield; children, Sally (Michael) Ferguson and Marc (Stephanie) Gardner, both of Greenfield; brother, Gene (Michele) Gardner of Anderson; sister, Bev (Don) Cronk of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Sydney and Savannah Ferguson; and four nieces. Preceding him in death were his parents.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 2, 2012, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 3, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the mortuary. Reverend J.T. Thomas will be officiating and burial will take place at New Palestine Cemetery.
