GREENFIELD – Carl F. Wayner, age 84, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at Richard L Roudebush VA Medical Center. He was born on September 6, 1930 in Covington, IN as the son of Hester and Carey (Meyers) Wayner. He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1950-1953. Carl married Elvira (Giangotti) Wayner on December 1, 1963 in Indianapolis. He worked for Indianapolis Drywall for many years before retiring. Carl enjoyed fishing, racing and even raced at the Indianapolis Speedrome, and flipping through the television. He was also a fan of the Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Colts, and Jeff Gordon. Carl is survived by his wife of 51 years, Elvira Wayner of Greenfield; son, Jay Wayner of Indianapolis; daughter, Candace (Aaron) Sharp of Greenfield; three grandchildren, Mark Mathews of Greenfield, Brittany Zentz of Greenfield, and Kari Wayner of Arizona; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hester and Carey (Meyers) Wayner; and a sister. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 4:00 p.m. Pastor Mark Watkins will be officiating.
